BANGLA SAHIB: A PILGRIMAGE SITE

Have you ever been to any gurudwara in your life? Yes, I have been many times. You may be aware of Bangla Sahib Gurudwara in Delhi. It is a prominent place of worship of Sikhs and associated with Guru Har Kishan, the 8th Guru of Sikhs. General Baghel Singh built this historical shrine of Sikhism in 1783. Do you know? This historical Gurudwara was once a bungalow belonging to Raja Jai Singh and known as the Jaisinghpura Palace. The Gurudwara and Sarovar (Pond) nearby are considered sacred and healing. You can easily recognize this facade with the white structure and golden domes and the tall flagpole visible from a distance. The place is majestic, especially during evening prayers. HUMAYUN’S TOMB: AN INSPIRATION

JANTAR MANTAR: A OBSERVATORY

In 1724, Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur built this beautiful observatory, and it is one of the five across the country, only four of which remain in existence. Jantar Mantar is an almost 300-year-old observatory built to track and predict the movements of the sun, moon and other planets. So they could maintain the calendars of that time. Interestingly, it is a considerable fact that despite all these years, the instruments are still accurate and can be used to give exact observations. Lodhi Gardens presents an amalgam of lush greenery and majestic architecture like the mausoleums of two Delhi Sultanate rulers, namely Mohammed Shah and Sikander Lodhi, along with other structures. It offers either an ideal setting for family outings or a perfect spot for those seeking a peaceful time amidst the refreshing nature. The architectural heritage of around 500 years and the impeccable natural beauty make Lodhi Gardens a prime attraction for Delhi to cover in one day. 

MUSEUM OF ILLUSIONS: A PERFECT EXCURSION

Everyone is in illusion till reality does not come up. So, there is a place known as the Museum of Illusions at Connaught Place, New Delhi where guests enter the fascinating world of mental deception. It is a mind-bending edutainment experience and opened to the public on 10th February 2021. This museum is the first India outpost and 30th location for the rapidly expanding Museum of Illusions brand that started in Zagreb, Croatia, in 2015. With over 50 intriguing exhibits, the Museum of Illusions offers more eye-fooling fun than any other tourist spot in New Delhi. The museum’s collection of interactive, immersive, and distinctly incomprehensible exhibits are based on math, science, and psychology. Therefore, the Museum of Illusion is one of the amazing places of Delhi to cover in one day.

RED FORT: A SYMBOL OF INDEPENDENCE

What comes to your mind when you hear Independence Day? Obviously, Red Fort in Delhi! In 1947, it was the place where the first Prime Minister of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru, hoisted the tricolour flag on the Lahore Gate to declare independence, a tradition maintained till date on 15th August of every year. Moreover, Red Fort is a historically significant place in Delhi because it was the residence of the Mughals for nearly 200 years. In 1639, Mughal Emperor Shahjahan built the red sandstone fort as his seat in the capital of Shahjahanabad. Today, Red Fort is home to several museums, which have an assortment of precious artefacts on display for tourists. With so much history and heritage associated with it. Therefore, in 2007, it became a UNESCO world heritage site. Moreover, the Red Fort is one of the amazing places of Delhi to cover in one day.

SHANTI VAN: A FOREST OF PEACE

What comes to your mind when you hear Shanti Van? It may be a forest of peace, something like that. Yes, you are right! It is one of the associated memorials in the neighbourhood of the famous Raj Ghat on the banks of River Yamuna. It is a national shrine dedicated to the first prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru and also home to the shrine of many great heroes and intellectual personalities of the nation, including Vijay Ghat (dedicated Lal Bahadur Shastri), Shakti Sthal (dedicated to Indira Gandhi), and Vir Bhumi (dedicated to Rajiv Gandhi).

This place is loaded with trees and plantations and is now a famous tourist spot under Delhi Tourism. There is a peace symbol resembling the Sanchi Stupa of Madhya Pradesh. It is also built-in this park which is reflective of Nehru’s peace-loving attitude towards life. Therefore, this place offers peace and nirvana to its visitors and makes it one of the amazing places of Delhi to cover in one day.

WASTE TO WONDER

Yes, you read it right! There is a park located near Nizamuddin Metro Station in Delhi and created from industrial and other wastes. It is a unique park that has replicas of Seven Wonders of the world. Have you watched the Bollywood movie Badri Ki Dulhania? Yes or No! It is due to the idea derived for this park from Seven Wonders Park of Kota that was featured in that movie. Interestingly, The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has harnessed the wind and solar energy to light up the park rendering it a breathtaking sight during sunset and night. Waste to Wonder Park is one of the amazing places in Delhi to understand that something created from scrap materials can look so surreal.
